Biotechnology beyond boundaries and the promise of India
Now in its 9th year, Bangalore Bio is India's premier biotechnology event. Bangalore Bio is organized by the Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, Technology Vision Group LLC, and MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications Co. The three-day long event features multi-track conferences, an international trade show, and a BioPartnering forum powered by TVG's biopartnering software.
Bangalore Bio has continued its growth track in spite of various challenges and hurdles due to the global economic meltdown. In 2009, 685 delegates from across the globe participated in the six focused tracks and 22 conference sessions. 115 Indian and international speakers participated in these conference sessions. 340 delegates participated in the BioPartnering session and around 5,000 business visitors visited during the three days.
BioPartnering, the first-of-its-kind initiative by MM Activ and TVG, the world leaders in global life science networking, received a resounding response. Out 1,500 requests that came only 610 business meetings could be accommodated through this initiative due to time constraints, which is quite phenomenal.
Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairperson, Karnataka's Vision Group on Biotechnology & CMD, Biocon, said, "Bangalore Bio is an important global event that has become truly international. More and more international companies are looking forward to the Bangalore Bio platform for B2B meetings and eventually business. Ultimately, biotech is all about developing business models and India has a great potential for Biotech and that's where the future is."
